Presents RJ Walker and Willy Palomo

Writers RJ Walker and Willy Palomo will read and perform from
their work on March 5th at the Salt Lake City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. as
part of the City Art Reading Series.
RJ
Walker is a performance poet from Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member of the
2013 Salt City Slam team which made group piece finals at the 2013 NPS. He is
also the representative for Riverton, Utah at the 2013 Individual World Poetry
Slam. He is the most recent host of The Greenhouse Effect open mic and has been
doing spoken word and comedy for 3 years, and slam poetry for 2. He works as an
EMT and lives a quiet life in Salt lake City with his 6 (or was it 5?)
Invisible cats. They are all named George Foreman and RJ does not believe they
exist.
Willy Palomo
is an emerging writer and student at Westminster College. His poetry and
prose has been published in the University of New Mexico's Scribendi
and ellipsis... literature and art. He founded both the Voice Boxers Poetry
Slam and Westminster Slam Poetry to promote and nourish the local poetry
community. Both slams have since sent poetry teams out to compete
nationally. Willy Palomo also coaches high school students
through Poetry Out Loud and teaches a literature course once a week with
Dr. Desilets at East High School.
Most featured
readings are followed by an open reading. City Art is sponsored by the Utah
Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Catalyst, the Salt Lake City Public Library, Xmission, and the Zoo,
Arts, and Park Fund.
The
event is free and open to the public.
