Writers Andy Hoffman and Lance
Newman to read from their work on February 4th at the Salt Lake City Public
Library at 7:00 P.M. as part of the City Art Reading Series.
Andy Hoffmann is a writer, publisher, and educator. His creative nonfiction,
literary essays, and fiction have appeared in The Gettysburg Review, Carolina
Quarterly, Quarterly West, Louisville Review, Confrontation,
Saltfront, The Florida Review, and many others. He has received
awards for both fiction and nonfiction from The Utah Arts Council and the Utah
Humanities Council. He currently edits and publishes Elik Press, Salt Lake
City, and teaches in the University of Utah’s Honors College.
Lance
Newman is Associate Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Professor of
English and Environmental Studies at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. He
is the author of Our Common Dwelling: Henry Thoreau, Transcendentalism, and
the Class Politics of Nature (Palgrave, 2005) and editor of The Grand
Canyon Reader (University of California Press, 2011). His poems have
appeared in print and web magazines in Australia, Canada, the U.S., and the UK,
including Beloit Poetry Journal, BlazeVox, Dusie, Moria, No Tell Motel,
otoliths, Pemmican, Stride, SugarHouse Review, and Zyzzyva. His
chapbooks, Come Kanab (Dusi-e/chaps Kollectiv, 2007) and 3by3by3
(Beard of Bees, 2010), are available for free on the web.
Most featured
readings are followed by an open reading. City Art is sponsored by the Utah
