City Art will commemorate the shocking events of 9/11 with poetry about the
atrocities of that day and response to the aftermath on September 20th at 7:00
P.M. at the Salt Lake Public Library Main Branch.
The reading will feature readings by Donald Revell, Shira Dentz, Frank
McEntire, Christopher Patton, Nathan Hauke, and Joan Coles among others.
Christopher PattonÂs book XO is forthcoming from Vehicule Press. Donald Revell
is Professor of Englishand is the author of eight collections of poetry
including My Mojave and Arcady. Shira Dentz is a PhD candidate in Poetry at
the University of Utah. She has poems in the Spring/Summer 2006 Tarpaulin Sky
and fiction, "Life as an Abstract," in Big Bridge. Joan Coles has published
poetry in Tailwinds, Weber Studies, and City Art Journal. For many years, she
has served on the board of Writers@Work where she also received the Advocate
Award in 2004. Nathan Hauke is a Ph.D. candidate in poetry at the University
of Utah.
City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts
Council, Zoo, Arts, and Parks, and audience donations. The featured reading
will be followed by an open reading.
