Hello everyone (please distribute amongst your colleagues), I just wanted to let everyone know that come June/July we'll be seeing a disruption in the Authority Notification process while Library of Congress is migrating to their new platform. Those who process monthly or weekly may receive a smaller (or even empty) change/new files. Those of you who process quarterly, semi-annually, or annually during those months will still receive authorities that were distributed prior to the temporary "freeze" in distribution. We did also notice that there was not an update file distributed this week, so those of you who receive weekly updates will have noticed that already. We're not sure what caused the disruption this week. Additionally, LC has noted that there may be some issues with MARC8 records moving forward. While we hope that our use of UTF8 files and converting to MARC8 later for those who use it will not be an issue, please be aware that there may be problematic records. If you're on a system that can use UTF8 files, but you personally haven't made the change yet, it would be advised to do so. Please bear with us as we navigate the next couple months of disruption as LC gets settled in their new platform!
