yup.... you might be interested to talk to Janis Ian (www.janisian.com) 
- she put mp3s up on her site and started getting 1000 hits a day from 
people who'd never heard her music before... and selling lots more 
records.... can't remember her email, i think its janis@janisian.com...
she's written a lot of stuff about mp3 downloads and the record industry 
too, her articles are on the website....

another thing to look at is to be your own distributor?.... or is that 
too much of a hassle?...
