Coretta Scott King said it best when she proclaimed, "Peter,
Paul and Mary are not only three of the greatest folk
artists ever, but also three of the performing arts' most
outstanding champions of social justice and peace. They have
lent their time and talents to the Civil Rights Movement,
labor struggles, and countless campaigns for human rights
for decades, and their compassion and commitment remain as
strong as their extraordinary artistry." When the actions
of Tim DeChristopher came to his attention, Peter Yarrow’s
support was automatic. Tim’s disruption of a December 2008
BLM auction to protect sensitive lands from destruction and
pollution led to federal charges, a very public trial, and a
2-year prison sentence. Tim is nearly ten months into his
sentence now but support for his actions remains as strong
as ever. Peter Yarrow has been a rallying voice for Tim and
social justice advocates everywhere and he continues that
generous tradition on Monday, May 14th, 2012, at the State
Room in Salt Lake City. Please come to ensure that this
circle of determination to protect justice and human rights
remains unbroken. This will be a very special evening!
Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary LOVES activists and he
loves Peaceful Uprising. Peter is throwing this concert to
help Peaceful Uprising raise funds and keep on
organizing. All money raised goes to benefit Peaceful
Uprising which is badly in need of support right now and any
support you can lend would be greatly appreciated.
