Join Peaceful Uprising and Environmental Ministry at First Unitarian Church
to welcome the heroes of Appalachia, as they share their stories of
non-violent civil resistance!
Front-line activists from the battle to stop mountaintop removal coal mining
in West Virginia will be in Salt Lake City this Monday, Nov 29th, for a
presentation about the reality of mountaintop removal and how direct action
plays a part in the movement to stop strip mining in Appalachia. The
presentation will include the history of the Climate Ground Zero
<
http://climategroundzero.net/> campaign in WV and information about their
upcoming Winter Action Camp
<

As Utah faces its first coal strip mine and the country's first tar sands
mine, Climate Ground Zero provides an example of a strong resistance
movement against destructive fossil fuel projects. That's why Peaceful
Uprising is sponsoring 4 people to attend the Winter Action Camp in West
Virginia. This is your chance to get in-depth experience with some of the
most committed direct action activists in the country and bring that
knowledge back to Utah. Join Peaceful Uprising and Environmental Ministry
on Monday, November 29 at 7pm at First Unitarian Church to learn about the
resistance in Appalachia, meet the activists, and get involved.
Please share this announcement with your mailing lists. Hope to see you on
Monday night!
