**Also opening at the theaters this week!
_Broadway
Tetro <
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0964185/>_* Francis Ford Coppola's
first original screenplay since "The Conversation", Tetro is his most
personal film yet, arising from memories and emotions from his early
life, though totally fictional. It is the bittersweet story of two
brothers, of family lost and found and the conflicts and secrets within
a highly creative Argentine-Italian family. Starring Vincent Gallo.
**** The New York Times- "...a sign of vigorous artistic renewal."
*_
_Adoration <
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1074929/>* Indie auteur, Atom
Egoyan, brings us a highly compelling story of a high school student
who, for his French-class assignment, weaves his family history in a
news story involving terrorism, and goes on to invite an internet
audience in on the resulting controversy.
**** The New York Times- "A profound and provocative exploration of
cultural inheritance, communications technology and the roots and
morality of terrorism, the Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan nimbly wades
into an ideological minefield without detonating an explosion."
*_
_**Held Over!
*_*Little Ashes <
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1104083/>*_ In 1922, Madrid
is wavering on the edge of change as traditional values are challenged
by the dangerous new influences of Jazz, Freud and the avant-garde.
Salvador Dali arrives at the university; 18 years old and determined to
become a great artist. His bizarre blend of shyness and rampant
exhibitionism attracts the attention of two of the university's social
elite - Federico Garcia Lorca and Luis Bunel. Starring Robert Pattinson
as Dali.
*_Management <
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1082853/>_* When Sue checks
into the roadside motel owned by Mike's parents in Arizona, what starts
with a bottle of wine "compliments of Management" soon evolves into a
multi-layered, cross-country journey of two people looking for a sense
of purpose. Starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Zahn, and Woody Harrelson.
*_
_**** Roger Ebert "Management works as a sweet rom-com with some big
laughs."
*_
(500) Days of Summer
<
http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/500daysofsummer>_* An offbeat
romantic comedy and Sundance hit about a woman (played perfectly by
Zooey Deschanel) who doesn't believe true love exists, and the young man
(Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who falls for her.
**** Roger Ebert- "Here is a rare movie...a delightful comedy, alive
with invention."
*
**_Adam <
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1185836/plotsummary>_* Adam is a
handsome but intriguing young man who has all his life led a sheltered
existence - until he meets his new neighbor, Beth, a beautiful,
cosmopolitan young woman who pulls him into the outside world, with
funny, touching and entirely unexpected results. Their implausible and
enigmatic relationship reveals just how far two people from different
realities can stretch in search of an extraordinary connection.
**** Los Angeles Times- "Subtlety and nuance mark both the film's
dialogue and performances. It's hard to see how [the actors] could be
any better."*
*_*
Ponyo <
http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/ponyo>*_ Japanese master
animator Hayao Miyazaki brings us a story inspired by Hans Christian
Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid." Already a box-office success
in Japan, this story of a young and overeager goldfish named Ponyo and
her quest to become human features an outstanding roster of voice talent
including Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Liam Neeson, Lily
Tomlin, and Betty White.
*_Food, Inc. <
http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/foodinc>_* You'll
never look at dinner the same way again after seeing this unflattering
look inside America's corporate-controlled food industry. Featuring
interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and
Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma) Food, Inc. reveals surprising --
and often shocking truths -- about what we eat, how it's produced, who
we have become as a nation and where we are going from here. **** Los
Angeles Times- "Essential Viewing"
*Last Chance ... Ends Thursday 9/3!*

*Trembling Before G-d <
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0278102/>*
Built around intimately-told personal stories of Hasidic and Orthodox
Jews who are gay or lesbian, the film portrays a group of people who
face a profound dilemma -- how to reconcile their passionate love of
Judaism and the Divine with the drastic Biblical prohibitions that
forbid homosexuality.

the World at the Broadway. All proceeds will benefit Tim DeChristopher
(Bidder #70) who will be in person for a Q and A after the film.
_*The Yes Men Fix the World <
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1352852/>*_
Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno are two guys who just can't take "no"
for an answer. They have an unusual hobby: posing as top executives of
corporations they hate. Armed with nothing but thrift-store suits, the
Yes Men lie their way into business conferences and parody their
corporate targets in ever more extreme ways - basically doing everything
that they can to wake up their audiences to the danger of letting greed
run our world.
