I lean toward (3), bear market rally. That may not be the most technically accurate terminology, as I see indications that the markets (stock) could extend the rally through the bulk of 2009, or at least display signs of stabilization. But there remain indications that another significantly notable downturn is possible in the 2010-2011 timeframe. Is this a continuation of the current bear or a new bear? To me, that is only semantics. Although I have never been a typical "gloom & doomer," I have little confidence in the markets to sustain a long-term uptrend at the moment.
