MtMan-List: attention: police officers & fire fighters

The city of Ft Worth recently (last week) dedicated a stunning memorial to
fallen Ft Worth police officers and firefighters. It consists of 1.5 times
life sized bronze statues of a firefighter and a police officer standing on
either side of a bronze riderless horse with a reversed boot in a stirrup.
The site consists of several landscaped acres with a large stone wall
engraved with the names of all Ft Worth firefighters and police officers who
have died in the line of duty since records have been kept. The memorial
park is close to the Trinity River and is practically in the shadows of
downtown Ft Worth. There are beautiful old trees all around. The park is
beautiful and peaceful, a fitting memorial to the men who died while serving
the citizens of Ft Worth. It seems to me that in a larger sense it
memorializes police officers and firefighters who have died serving
communities all over the country. I wish every town had a similar park to
memorialize those who have been lost in their community. Unfortunately my
town doesn't.

I know that some of you on this list are policemen or firefighters in your
own communities or you might know or even be related to someone who has been
lost and I suspect that you might want to see some of the photographs that I
took in the park yesterday. Since this list doesn't support attachments I
will be glad to send about four photographs directly to anyone who requests
them. I will send them separately as jpg reduced size images to keep the
file size manageable even if you rely on land line internet service.
