Summer Tours

northlooksmallText Box: Celebrate 100 Years with the Union Pacific Depot
This summer only! UHF guides will be showcasing the Union Pacific Depot at
the Gateway. FREE guided tours of the Grand Hall and facts about the
railroad and its role in Utah History. Tours will be from 5-7 pm on June 18,
July 16, August 20, and September 17.










Kearns (Utah Governor's) Mansion - 603 E. South Temple, SLC

FREE guided tours Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., June through
August. Please arrive by 3:30 p.m.



Salt Lake City & County Building - 451 South State Street, SLC

FREE guided tours every Tuesday with Saturday tours June 6, July 11, and
August 1. At noon and 1:00 p.m., June through August.



Meditation Chapel/Memory Grove Park - 400 N. Canyon Road, SLC

FREE guided tours every Wednesday June - September. With special Saturday
tours- June 6, July 11, August 1, and September 5, noon to 2:00 p.m.
Memorial House is included on this tour when available.



David Keith Mansion - 529 E. South Temple, SLC

The David and Mary Keith Mansion is the result of Keith's work in the Park
City Silver Mines. Tours must be arranged two weeks in advance and cost $3
per person. Groups of 10-20.



McCune Mansion - 200 N. Main Street, SLC

Alfred William and Elizabeth Claridge McCune built this Gothic/East Asian
style home, in 1901, after two years of research. Tours must be arranged
two weeks in advance and cost $3 per person. Groups of 10-25.



Marmalade Historic District Walking Tour

Between 300 and 500 North, West of the State Capitol, SLC

Guided, one hour tour of Marmalade Hill, best known for its steep, narrow
streets. It is one of the city's oldest and most architecturally diverse
neighborhoods. Tours must be arranged two weeks in advance and cost $3 per
person. Groups of 10-25.

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON

The Historic Properties Committee recently approved two low-interest
loans. A Victorian Eclectic-style home in Salt Lake City will receive a new


868 First Ave SLC April 2009 001boiler and a fresh coat of paint using UHF
loan funds. The second loan will partially fund the stabilization of the
historic Merrell Planing Mill in Brigham City.

National Preservation Conference Scholarships Available - Apply Today!

Diversity Scholarship Program

Since 1992, the Diversity Scholarship Program (DSP) has provided financial
assistance (which can covers registration and shared lodging) to more than
1,100 individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, economic and cultural
backgrounds. The goal of the Diversity Scholarship Program is to increase
the diversity of participants at the annual National Preservation Conference
and in the preservation Diversity Scholarship Program - Tulsa 2008movement.
The Program provides financial assistance to approximately 60 community
leaders from diverse social, economic, racial, ethnic and cultural
backgrounds to attend the National Preservation Conference. Through
interactive sessions, presentations, informal gatherings, and tours of the
host city and surrounding areas, participants will learn the necessary tools
to strengthen their commitment and effectiveness in preserving historic
places and revitalizing communities.

The National Trust seeks culturally diverse applicants whose attendance at
the Conference will benefit their communities and whose commitment to
historic preservation will be reinforced by their participation. Recipients
will have an opportunity to express their perspectives during the Conference
and to take advantage of National Trust programs after the Conference.
