Hi All,??
I've always hobbled the front legs just above the fetlock either with chain hobbles or Utah hobbles. I like the Utah hobbles a lot because I can just buckle them around the horses neck when not in use.
I've never tried side hobbling and have a few horses that would definitely benefit from that method.
Mark, how far a part do you set the hobbles??? What do us us for hobbles for side hobbling?? Any disadvantages to side hobbling??? Thanks in advance. ............Mike Drougas

Wynn I have found picketing by the front foot they are more prone to get
back feet tangled. If picked by the back foot the rope tends to drag behind
and out of the way of the feet. I ask Buck Brannaman this question. He
explained that he had fewer problems and injuries with this method. There is
nothing that can replace a horse with experience. I use a swivel on the stake
and on the leg.
