This edition of NOOZ is sent to the President, Vice President, Director,
Secretary, Treasurer, APCUG Representative, Newsletter Editor, Webmaster,
and Membership & Program Chairs of each APCUG-member User Group.
We urge you to share the information in NOOZ by including it in your
newsletter, posting it on your Web site, or e-mailing it to members of your
group.
In this edition of NOOZ:
1. Board Elections
2. Contest Winners
3. Name That User Group
4. Database Update
5. Regional Specific
1. *Board Elections* - At the Board of Directors Meeting, Kathy Jacobs
was elected to be APCUG’s newest Vice-President. The Board now consists of:
President – Jay Ferron
Vice-President – Kathy Jacobs
Secretary – Linda Moore
1. *Contest Winners* - The APCUG announced to the User Groups in
December, 2008 that it was sponsoring a APCUG Newsletter, Web and Photo
Contest. The contest ran from January 1st through January 31st. We also
announced that the contest was to be managed differently in that all
submissions would be posted to the APCUG SharePoint site. Additionally, we
also eliminated the user group size as part of the judging criteria for the
Newsletter and Web submissions. Judges were selected in February. You can
see all the entries just by logging into SharePoint and look under Shared
Documents/APCUG 2009 Newsletter, Web and Photo Contests. There were 15
Newsletter entries, 22 web entries and 97 Photo entries.
The APCUG board extends its thanks to the judges Judy Taylour, Charlotte
Semple (Newsletter), Doris Collins, Patty Lowry (Web), Don Singleton and
Paula Sanders (Photo) who graciously donated their time and energy in
selecting the winners.

1. *Name That User Group* - When you correspond with APCUG, renew
membership, make a suggestion, gripe about something -- please give full
identification for your user group! With hundreds of groups in APCUG's
database -- many with similar or identical acronyms -- and thousands of
volunteers listed, it's often difficult or impossible to determine which
group is being discussed.
Mysteries delay responses and wastes folks' time digging through records.
Please provide full group name, acronym, Web URL, city/state, email and
telephone contact information, your position in the group, and anything else
that will help APCUG respond to you. Sometimes even Advisors -- the APCUG
volunteers closest to user group members -- haven't memorized all the groups
in our regions, so these clues are always appreciated.
1. *CDB Information *– This item is for the Presidents of our member
groups. Please be sure that your user group’s information is correct and up
to date, in the database on the APCUG web site. This information is very
important, to both us and you. It allows us to communicate with you, and
your officers concerning changes in the organization, and allows sponsors to
contact the correct person in your group. We would like the President or
APCUG representative of each of the groups, to log on and verify the
information. If you have forgotten your login and password, send a message
to the secretary at *secretary@???*, and it will be forwarded to
you

1. *Region 9 *Thank you for renewing your membership in APCUG! **
*The Region 9 / Phoenix Conference is scheduled Feb 20-21, 2010. Please
mark the dates on your calendar and come Geek with us.*
With changes to the economy come different options for clubs and how our
programs and presentations are structured. You are all aware that it is
more economically feasible for a business to do a presentation online from
the office than it is to fly someone out to your location to do a
presentation in person. Live Meeting may be an answer for your group. The
Live Meeting training schedule is on the
www.apcug.net website. If your
club is interested in having presentations online, this is excellent
software to use and it is an APCUG membership benefit. I attended Don
Singleton’s training class and have held club meetings using live meeting.
Sure learned a lot when I went from connecting in my office to a large room
with audience, projector and an online audience. I’d really like to know
what you are doing for presentations. What software and methods of
presentation have you used in your club and did it work well. Two clubs that
I know of are videotaping presentations. I have copies of some of them.
Please contact me if your club would be interested in viewing presentation
videos. I may have access to resources that your club can make use of. Keep
in touch; let me know what your club is planning and what you need.

*Ohio/Midwest Conference* – As you may already know APCUG is no longer
having an Annual Conference in Las Vegas. They are having 4-5 regional
conferences in different areas of the country. This year APCUG will have
their Annual Conference in conjunction with an Ohio Midwest Regional
Conference
http://ohiomidwest.apcug.org/ which is being held in Newark,
Ohio. The Licking County Computer Society
www.lccsohio.org will be the
co-host of this event. The location of the conference will be the Cherry
Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio:
http://www.cherryvalleylodge.com/ The lodge
address is:
2299 Cherry Valley Rd SE, Newark, OH 43055, (740) 788-1200 or
(800)-788-8008; for reservations use conference reservation code lccs09. To
register for the conference there is an online registration engine at:
http://apcug.asentus.net/apcug/Ohio
If there any members of your clubs who would like to volunteer in making the
APCUG Annual and the Ohio Midwest Regional Conference a smashing success
please contact Robert L. Vance <rleevance.apcug@???> They can use
volunteers to sell raffle tickets issue raffle tickets, to help pass out
door prizes, help out with registration and sign in and they would also like
to draw on your talent pool of possible workshop presenters. Any assistance
would be appreciated.
The conference will be running Aug 28th, 29th and 30th, 2009. Friday evening
will be registration, a welcoming event, and also offer family time at the
indoor water park. Most of the conference will be on Saturday the 29th with
breakfast, lunch and dinner provided with breakout sessions in between
meals. A vendor fare will be on Saturday evening. Sunday will offer
additional breakout sessions, door prize drawings & final wrap-up.
