I am trying to make a shower gel that foams really well. Does anyone have a recipe or suggestions on oils to use. i know that Coconut oil should be one of the main ingredients. i used Vegetable oil and had bad results.

I get my lye from a local chemical company in 50 lb bags so I have not checked this out myself. I saw on another list that the big home stores carry cans of it. I think they said the brand was something like Robic. Just be real sure it is 100% sodium hydroxide and not a drain cleaner that contains other chemicals. I have also seen that the Boyer corporation will sell it and mail it to you in as small as 2 lb amounts. HTH, Linda in PA

Yes, it is Roebic, and you can get it in Lowes for $7.99 for a 2lb
container. It is 100% lye(sodium hydroxide). It's in a white container with a red and
yellow label with black lettering. It is right next to the liquid form of it,
so make sure you check what you are grabbing.
I use it when I'm running low or waiting for a new shipment.
HTH!
