I've seen that CD in Mexico before. It combines the "Latin-Esque" LP
with Esquivel's first Mexican album "Las Tandas de Juan Garcia Esquivel"
(that album was never issued in the US).

The "live" tracks on the album are from the film score of "La Locura Del
Rock 'n Roll", a film in which Esquivel leads his band live in a half
dozen or so numbers (although often its actors playing the musicians). I
concluded they were studio recordings with the applause dubbed in and
synched to the film. Fun movie, if you can find it. It was on VHS tape
in Mexico for a short period of time in the late 90's. Shows up
periodically on the Galavision movie channel, if you have that available
in your area (the other Esquivel film, "Cabaret Tragico", shows up there
as well)
