Andrew, what percent superfat are you using in your soap making? The only
time I've had a soap go rancid on me was the time I made a recipe that called
for a really high superfat content. If I stay at about 6%, the soap ages
beautifully. I've got bars that are 2 yrs. old and they are better now than when I
first made them. As for the grapeseed oil, I haven't had any problem using it
in soap but one thing to rememnber is that it has a shelf life of about 6
months (depending on how it is stored).
Majestic Mountain Sage has an excellent lye calculator and if you stay at or
near 6% superfat (the amount of oils/fats left over after the lye reaction
process takes place) I think your soaps will store and age well.
Best Wishes,
Judee
