Opening Plenary with Blair Kamin
The Opening Plenary of the Second Annual Utah Preservation Conference will
begin at the Auditorium of Utah Museum of Fine Arts on the campus of the
University of Utah. Blair Kamin, architecture critic for the Chicago
Tribune, will give our Keynote address. Mayor Ralph Becker, planner and
preservationist, will provide opening remarks. Following the address, the
attendees are welcome to a reception held in UMFA's Grand Hall. See the

Preservation Marketplace
The marketplace features many of UHF's partners in preservation including
architects, contractors, and green builders. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres,
beverages, and live entertainment while browsing through books, antiques,
and historic reproductions from local vendors. You won't want to miss your
chance to pick up new books by local authors who will sign their recently
released books on historic preservation and Salt Lake City including Robert
Steensma, Robert Young, and Kirk Huffaker.

Heritage Awards Luncheon
Join emcee Chris Vanocur as we announce this year's winners, celebrating
their preservation work completed during 2007. All-In-One Registration
includes the luncheon; individual tickets may be purchased at $35 per
person. The luncheon begins at 12:00 PM at the Officer's Club at Historic

Architecture's Tradition: The Avenues Homes Tour
Come see how the styles of Utah's architecture evolved from 1850 to 1950 in
the historic Avenues neighborhood. The tour will feature some of the finest
homes designed by Utah architects and constructed in different periods of
Utah's history.
Tickets for the Tour cost $15 for Utah Heritage Foundation members and $20
for the public. Advance tickets may be purchased with a credit card by

CONFERENCE EDUCATION SESSIONS
Friday, April 19, 7:45 a.m.
A Breakfast to Sustain You
If you have not heard it already, the breakfast will emphasize the saying
that the "greenest building is the one that's already built." We will learn
how historic preservation and new green building practices are breaking
ground across Utah and setting national trends and why preservationists
should be leading this cause. Barbara Campagna, AIA, LEED AP, and Graham
Gund Architect of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will speak
on the relationship between historic preservation and sustainability. Hank
Louis, visiting faculty at the University of Utah's College of Architecture
+ Planning, will discuss his pioneering project DesignBuildBLUFF. Salt Lake
County Mayor Peter Corroon will welcome conference goers and discuss his
priorities for historic buildings and neighborhoods in the county.
Registration for the breakfast is included in All-In-One registration at
$125, or can be individually purchased for $25.
