What Wynn and others have been telling you about the tomahawk not being what a EuroAmerican carried in the fur trade is true. In fact my original dictionaries of 1805, 1828, 1836, and 1840 all define "Tomahawk" as the "...poorest kind of axe, such as traded to the Indians." Tomahawks have "taken-off" as it were with modern buckskinners and especially with the popularity of tomahawk throwing, which also has no historic precedence.
