Anjan,

One of the CANSLIM factors that is difficult to assess for an IPO is
institutional sponsorship.

What is taught in IBD circles is to pay attention to the underwriters of the
IPO. The better IPOs are sponsored by the following:

Goldman, Lehman, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Merrill

Credit Suisse and Citibank for the Chinese IPOs

IPOs have risks and rewards. Rewards are obvious - maximum profits from
early entry into a good company. Risks are many including something as
severe as the company geting delisted from an exchange due to violation of
some SEC rules, to something as mundane as the company making secondery
offerings to raise cash, diluting present value of a share. So my question
is: during the research phase what fundamental properties of stock should
one investigate to minimize such risks? I would really appreciate your
wisdom. Thanks.
