Adapted, produced and directed by Dr. Shirlee H. Shields. The
play is staged as if in a radio studio in the 1940's with sound
effects by KUER. The tale of George Bailey is about the "everyman"
from small town America whose dreams have been quashed by family
obligations and civic duty - whose guardian angel has to descend on
Christmas Eve so save him from despair and remind him what the world
would have been like had he not been born - that he has indeed had a
wonderful life. A story with laughter and tears, this dramatization
celebrates the faith and the spirit of Christmas.
Not a Student Production, the cast includes actors from local
and national radio, TV, movie, and stage productions.

Brubeck Brothers Info:

The GAM Foundation/Jazz SLC Presents the Brubeck Brothers,
part of the Jazz at the Grand Theatre Series.
The Brubeck Brothers Quartet (BBQ) is an exciting jazz group
featuring two members of a well-known musical family; Daniel and Chris
Brubeck, sons of jazz icon, Dave Brubeck. The quartet features
Daniel on drums, Chris on bass and trombone, Mike DeMicco on guitar
and Chuck Lamb on piano. While the quartet's style is rooted in
"straight-ahead" jazz, they play just about anything, including funk,
rock, classic blues, reggae and world music. The group is also
known for their inherent ability to explore and play odd time
signatures.
All four men play with other musical groups and pursue other
passions when not performing together. Chris Brubeck is a well
known and sought-after composer who has written a trombone
concerto. Mike DeMicco, beside being an in-demand sideman, has
lead his own jazz group since 1987, and co-leads an organ trio with
Hammond B-3 player, Pete Levin. Daniel Brubeck has toured the
international music circuit for over two decades as the leader of his
own group, The Dolphins, a high energy fusion band. Chuck Lamb
co-leads a band with his partner, Theano.
No strangers to Salt Lake City, the quartet ignited the 2005
Salt Lake City Jazz Festival by playing with the Utah Symphony
conducted by Keith Lockhart. The group has also performed at
numerous jazz festivals across North America and
Europe.
The GAM Foundation and Grand Theatre have partnered to present
this series, Jazz at the Grand Theatre, to augment the already popular
Jazz at the Sheraton series, also produced by GAM. Jazz at the
Grand Theatre will showcase eclectic, up and coming national
artists. The other Jazz at the Grand Theatre concerts include
Cannonball-Coltrane Project on February 23 and The Erin Bode Group on
April 19. For more information visit
www.the-grand.org or

Foundation is sponsored in part by the Zoo, Arts and Parks
program.
