For those List members who are curious about using RSS Feeds to manage
the AML Discussion Board (as well as some of the LDS blogs you may
visit --
http://www.ldsblogs.org -- and whichever news sources you
like), here's some info on RSS:
An RSS /XML feed is like having your own newswire that readers can
sign up for. It delivers headlines (and either the full story or the
first few lines -- some feeds offer full content, others don't) to
anyone who has signed up for the feed -- like having the AP wire on
your computer.
What you need to do in order to get the feeds sign up for some sort of
RSS reader/aggregator and then use your reader to subscribe to the
feeds you want. Your individual reader will tell you what you need to
do, but in both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox, you will see a little
square orange icon show up in the browser (usually in the vicinity of
the URL bar) when you are on a page that publishes an RSS feed. Click
on that. Or find on the page where it says RSS feed. In the AML forum,
click on the text that says "RSS feed" in the lower right hand corner
of the board categories you are interested in.
Here are a few RSS reader choices:
Google reader:

Bloglines:

MyYahoo:

NewsGator (for use with MS Outlook):

Firefox Live Bookmarks:

Sage (also for use with Firefox -- good option for those who don't
want to sign up for a Yahoo! or Gmail account):

There are both Web-based (i.e. for use in a Web brower such as
Internet Explorer or Firefox) and desk-top based readers. Many are
free; some of the desk-top clients cost money (and come with
additional features). This Slate article is old, but it's still a good
intro:

And if you are looking for a huge list, see:

I, personally, do not use Google reader, but instead put all my feeds
on my iGoogle (personalized) home page since I'm a Gmail user. If you
use Gmail and would like info on how to do that, feel free to e-mail
me.

William Morris
P.S. While you're at it, you might want to add the A Motley Vision RSS feed:
