I have been involved in various email lists since 1988 and I can say
that I've changed my mind on maybe half a dozen things primarily from
reading the exchanges between others. So, no, maybe you and D. Mike
can't shake the other person, but maybe you can affect others who may
be reading. And, second, is the purpose of discussion, trying to
convert the other person to one's own way of thinking? I enjoy the
lively exchange of ideas. I like to see the process of conversation
and don't expect a capitulation by one party or the other.
