< For those list members who are in range of Salt Lake City, following
are some details about the Salt Lake book festival, the main day of
which is Saturday, Oct. 27.
< Not only are some big names coming to town, such as Walter Kirn, Jane
Hamilton, and Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, but lots of locals are
participating as well. Both the AML and Zarahemla Books will have
tables in an exhibitor room. All events are free to the public.

< William Kittredge is the author of A Hole in the Sky and The
Willow Field. His new essay collection will be published in
fall 2007. He has received numerous awards including the 2007
Robert Kirsch Lifetime Achievement Award from the Los Angeles
Times.
< Jane Hamilton is the author of The Book of Ruth, winner of the
PEN/Hemingway Award for first fiction, and A Map of the World,
a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and named one the top
ten books of the year by Entertainment Weekly, Publishers
Weekly, the Miami Herald, and People. Both The Book of Ruth
and A Map of the World have been selections of Oprah's Book
Club.
< Laurel Thatcher Ulrich is Phillips Professor of Early American
History at Harvard University. Her latest book, Well-Behaved
Women Seldom Make History, will be published in September.

I heartily endorse what Christopher B. has said. This is a wonderful event, and you cannot beat the price.
I know that in the past (this is an annual event) he presentations have been excellent and there is a lot going on all day Saturday.
I will have a table where I will be selling and signing copies of my book, _How Often Would I Have Gathered You_. Since I do not know most of you, I will be grateful if those of you who can attend will stop by my table and introduce yourselves.
