All,
My reviewer has twice fallen through on an assignment to write a review-essay of "The Coming of Elijah." This is a second call to the list to anyone interested in expanding their review (posted here or elsewhere) or writing one from scratch about this important book which won an award sponsored by AML.
If you are interested, please email me. I am also interested in having a thoughtful and skillful writer include a second book (preferably a novel)--written by a Mormon or no--in the essay with "The Coming of Elijah." The length is 800 to 2,000 words and needs to be less about the plot and a judgment of worth and more about an independent thesis of the author's choice that the book(s) then illustrate in some way.

The Coming of Elijah, by Arianne Cope (Parables Publishing, 2006).
I enjoyed reading this book, and I think others will enjoy reading it as well. It is for mature readers (in all senses of the word), and I'm not sure it's the kind of book that Deseret Book will choose to stock. But if you can find it, and you are up for a thoughtful read, this may be one to add to your collection.
Yes, despite my best efforts and the book's obvious faithfulness, Deseret has chosen not to stock the book, not even in it's online store. But you can get it on Amazon, or you can order it direct from me at
www.parablespub.com (using PayPal), and any bookstore that deals with Ingram Books (the largest wholesaler in the US) can get it for you. On the other hand, last week BYU Bookstore bought a whole bunch of copies for a course requirement. To me, that says somebody out there has gotten the word that this is an amazing book. Maybe BYU is training up a new generation of LDS readers who won't be afraid to read something that's actually moving, instead of simply entertaining. I have absolute faith that this market will develop, if we can just get the word out.
