I am using a pseudonym to respond to this for reasons that will become
obvious. The church is doing more in this area than you might be aware
of. They just put out a new pamphlet on the subject called "Let Virtue
Garnish Thy Thoughts." They also have a 12 step addiction recovery
program that now has group meetings in many areas specifically for
pornography and other sexual sins. There are links to the recovery
program and the new pamphlet at
www.combatingpornography.lds.org . I
have heard people at church complain that all the church talks about
anymore is pornography. Well, they should just be thankful that they
don't need to hear it. Many more people need to hear it than most people
realize. I have had problems with porn in the past and I attend one of
the church's recovery meetings in Utah County. There are meetings nearly
every night of the week throughout the valley. There are several just at
BYU. I went to a meeting last night and there were probably 50 people
there (they were split into two different rooms of about 25 men each,
plus there was a separate room with a meeting for the women). One person
said that he was impressed that there were that many honest men in Utah
County.
