Yes, there were lots of films that conveyed the horror of war. But none
did quite as viscerally as "Saving Private Ryan." That film is the first
and, so far, only war movie I've ever seen that made me feel like I was
really there. It was a quantum jump in intensity of understanding how
horrifying war really is.

The others may have let me feel the horror of war in my intellect and my
heart. "Saving Private Ryan" did it in my gut. And I'm thankful for that
experience.
