I agree with your praise of the soundtrack, but to be honest, I don't agree that most who've seen the film don't realize its origin as an indie comic. It's one of any number of films made since 1990 or so that would not exist were it not for a comic book. Each of these films was popularized from their outset by fans of the comic books.
