1) *WSU student piano trio, Tria Fata featured performers at Northern Lights
Chamber Music Festival in Aurora, Minnesota June 29 - July 18*
WSU music students, Kathryn Palkki, Samuel Runolfson and Nicholas Maughan,
have been rehearsing many hours at WSU, preparing Dvorak's "Dumky" Piano
Trio, Rachmaninov's Trio Elegiaque No. 1 in g minor, and Ned Rorem's "Spring
Music" for Piano Trio for their performances at the prestigious Northern
LIghts Chamber Music Festival (
http://www.northernlightsmusic.org) in
Aurora, Minnesota, July 29-July 18th.
The director of the festival, Veda Zuponcic, was a guest artist this spring
at WSU's Bonneville Chamber Music Festival. At that time she heard the
students and knew they needed to be included in her festival.
The Northern Lights Music Festival is an intensive 18 day classical music
performance program that will take participants before large and
enthusiastic audiences in four northern Minnesota cities. Participants
perform numerous times in chamber music, solo and ensemble repertoire.
Evening and matinee concerts are scheduled on a daily basis, with extra
performances in regional libraries for children.
The newly renovated Mesabi East High School in Aurora, is the festival home.
The school, with its historic auditorium, opens its doors for rehearsal,
teaching and practice.
Steinway and Boston grand and upright pianos are available without limit. An
internationally renowned faculty teaches and coaches, culminating in master
class and live performances for the Northern Lights Music Festival
audiences. Concerts featuring participants are held in Aurora at Mesabi East
School and Holy Rosary Church; at the
University of Minnesota/Duluth, as part of the Sieur Du Luth Summer Arts
Festival
Festival; at the Lyric Theatre in Virginia, and the resort city of Ely.

she says, provides "indisputable" evidence of whether a painting was made
