Dear CKF coalition members:
Well, this time it's for real. This Wednesday June 4 at 10:30 am at the
State Capitol we will release our CHIP story book, CHIP: A Utah Success
Story, to the public (see attachment and below for details).
Because Speaker Curtis will join us to release the book, this will be an
excellent opportunity for us all to thank him on behalf of kids in Utah for
the legislation he passed that removes the enrollment cap on CHIP.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Children's Health Coverage: 10 Real Families, 10 Real Stories
Voices for Utah Children and House Speaker Greg Curtis to Release CHIP Story
Book
Salt Lake City, UT- "My son is alive today because of CHIP." That's a quote
from one mom whose story is included in a new publication that will be
released by Voices for Utah Children on Wednesday, June 4. CHIP: A Utah
Success Story documents the stories of ten families across the state once
living without health coverage and the difference CHIP has made in their
lives. Some of the stories demonstrate how CHIP has saved the lives of
children. Others express the quiet and consistent way CHIP provides access
to health coverage and improves the quality of children's lives every day.
Thanks to legislation passed this year, HB 326S01 (Curtis, G.), Children's
Health Insurance Program-Open Enrollment, CHIP can insure more children than
ever. House Speaker Greg Curtis will encourage parents of uninsured children
to get them enrolled in CHIP. "Every child should be able to count on good
health care 365 days a year," said Curtis. Noting that there are
approximately 90,000 uninsured children in Utah, he stated, "The good news
is that nearly 70,000 of the uninsured children in Utah are likely eligible
for CHIP or Medicaid."
Health coverage is especially important for children at this time as the
school year is winding down and students are eager to trade their backpacks
and books for bathing suits and baseball games. But summertime adventures
can also bring the unexpected. Whether it is swimmer's ear or a broken
wrist, bumps and bruises are all part of growing up. When children have
health insurance, parents can be sure these minor problems don't become more
serious or complicated conditions.
