Dear Salt Lake Community Member,

The Salt Lake Tribune and the National Association of Hispanic
Journalists (NAHJ) invite you to a special Town Hall meeting from 6 p.m.
to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 10th in the 6th Floor Conference Room at: The
Salt Lake Tribune, 90 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City.

You are encouraged to let the editors and publisher of The Tribune know
what you think of the newspaper's coverage of the Latino community.

This Town Hall meeting is part of NAHJ's Parity Project initiative,
which aims to improve the quality of news coverage by encouraging
newspapers to hire more Latino journalists so their newsrooms better
reflect the communities they serve. The Parity Project also seeks to
help these newsrooms establish stronger ties than they might already
have with area Latinos, who can offer feedback in covering this growing
segment of the community.

NAHJ and The Tribune are inviting Latinos from the business sector, the
health care and education fields, community advocates and activists,
elected and appointed officials, and selected residents to join us for
this event.

At the meeting, we want to hear from you. What is The Tribune doing
right when it comes to coverage of Latinos? Where does it still need to
improve? If you have or recall articles that have been published in The
Tribune that are examples of either the right way to cover Latinos, or
examples of areas where the paper needs to improve this facet of its
coverage, please bring those with you.

In addition, we ask for your participation in an anonymous online survey
regarding The Tribune's coverage of Latinos. It will take only a few
minutes to complete. Please encourage other Latinos to complete the
survey, as well. You can find the survey by visiting:

http://www.nahj.org/survey/sltribCOMM.html

Please join us June 10, 2008 - and bring a friend or colleague.

If you have any questions or plan to attend please RSVP to Nanette
Hornsby at (801) 257-8506, nhornsby@??? or contact NAHJ Associate
Parity Project Director Michele Gonzalez at (512) 506-9991,
mgonzalez@???.

We look forward to your participation at the Town Hall meeting.

Sincerely,

Nancy Conway Michele Gonzalez
