Latinos to share their personal experiences with parents
And youth at Hillcrest High School

SALT LAKE CITY— Hillcrest High School in partnership with the Scoutreach Program of the Boy Scouts of America and Proyecto Latino de Utah will be hosting the first “Viviendo Mis Sueños” (Living My Dreams), a discussion that every Latino parent and youth should hear.

WHEN: Friday, May 9, 2008
WHERE: Hillcrest High School (7350 South 900 East) Midvale, Utah
TIME: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
WHO: Latino Parents and Youth are invited

This event will feature twelve prominent Latinos/as from the community who will share their personal histories with Latino parents and their children. Many of the speakers are immigrants and have a unique perspective and experiences which have helped them become successful.

As another school year is about to conclude, more than 1,800 Latino youth will be graduating from Utah’s high schools. At the same time, over 1,300 youth will have dropped out of school. Sue Malone, Principal of Hillcrest High School is a strong advocate for her Latino students and wants the best for them. Principal Malone said, “A high quality education is the only thing that can never be taken away for a person.”

Utah Latinos are taking an active role in their commitment to see that our youth have role models they can look up too.
