Poet Ely Shipley will read from his poems May 7th at 7:00 at the Salt Lake
Public Library as part of the City Art Reading Series.
Ely Shipley most recently won The Utah Writers Award in Poetry conducted by
The Western Humanities Review and The Virginia Faulkner Award from Prairie
Schooner. His poems also appear in The North American Review, Willow Springs,
The Florida Review, Phoebe, The Greensboro Review, Haydens Ferry Review, The
Painted Bride Quarterly, Diagram, LTTR and Bloom. He has taught Creative
Writing, Literature, Gender Studies at the university level, and frequently
facilitates workshops with LGBTQ youth groups. He is currently a Ph.D.
candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Utah.
Recently retired from the College of Eastern Utah, Jan Minich had his book The
Letters of Silver Dollar published by City Art. He has been published in
numerous literary journals.
City Art is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake City Arts

featured reading will be followed by an open reading.
